The Party Thai

I didn’t have as many problems planning an outside wedding as I thought I would. It wasn’t as expensive as an indoor wedding would have been. Since we had the flowers and mother nature everywhere, I didn’t have to spend a lot of money on decorations. The first thing on my agenda was to find that perfect place to hold our summer wedding and reception party. I thought about a super beach wedding and reception, or maybe have it in a gorgeous garden, but I decided to have our ceremony and reception in the park. I found several perfect parks that would work fine for our wedding day.

I wasn’t really sure where to start, so I shopped around for some much needed suggestions. I found out you need to have a plan B, in case inclement weather unexpectly arises. So we arranged to have a tent set up to move the ceremony into if necessary, just as a precaution.

In our original wedding preparations, we had a lovely canopy set up for the reception and a lovely trellis for our ceremony. The only real decorations I needed were those for my wedding table and the guests reception tables. With the park as our main theme, I basically had to make sure I had our table settings and maybe throw in a few extra bouquets of flowers. By using artificial flowers I thought we may be able to avoid any univited guests, like bees. You couldn’t tell they were artificial they were so beautiful,they looked like the real deal. Planning this wedding wasn’t all that hard, but there was a little more than I expected. There are some spectacular summer wedding invitations, but the sun can turn your beautiful wedding cake into a gooey pool of confection.

As far as table décor, I found so many fantastic accessories for our reception. As centerpieces for our reception tables I used citronella votive candles and place them in glass globes with flowers around them, and used park bench place card holders for each guest. I found very decorative favor boxes and used them to package the chrome bottle openers we bought for our friends and family as a summer wedding theme. For our wedding table, of course, was our fabulous wedding cake with a very unique wedding cake topper.

I saw this cake topper when I was checking out all the wedding accessories they had to offer, and I knew this was the topper I wanted. They do customizing for the bride and groom. All I had to do was send in a head shot picture of me and my fiance and they custom made a bride and groom cake topper with our faces. How could I ask for a better wedding keepsake than that? All of our guests were so impressed with our topper, they couldn’t stop talking about it. All the wonderful accessories I ordered for our reception and wedding ceremony came from the same place, including our champagne flutes and silver cake set. It’s unbelievable all the lovely accessories you can purchase from you computer.

Everything at the wedding and reception were fantastic. Thank goodness the weather stayed perfect throughout the entire ceremony and reception and we never had to put plan B into action. We had a wonderful DJ that I’m sure, kept the music going long after we left for our honeymoon. Everyone commented on what a lovely ceremony and super reception we had. I couldn’t have picked a better place than the park for our wedding ceremony and reception party. If we celebrate one of our anniversaries with a wedding renewal, I want to have it in a gorgeous park again.

My mom suggested I shop online for my wedding accessories, like flower girl baskets, ring bearer pillows and reception supplies. She said it beats running from store to store and all there is to do is check them out, order the ones I like and wait for delivery. I found everything from invitations to wedding favors, and some items at wholesale prices. Our invitations weren’t the only thing I saved money on, I also saved on other accessories too. I saved on items like wedding tiaras for my bridesmaids, flower girl, and also bought my bridal tiara, flower girl basket, flower petals and checked out some great ring bearer pillow wedding suggestions. There were many lovely styles for wedding ring pillows.

They had a fantastic selection of centerpieces and champagne flutes for the bride and groom and guests. There were elegant choices of candles and glassware to enhance my tables. There was such an assortment of themed wedding and destination wedding ideas, and a great selection of wedding favors too. There were great little novelty favors too, like Vegas wedding gifts for friends and family, keychains, photo frames and more with a Las Vegas theme to them.

I chose the gorgeous crystal paperweights as the thank you gifts for our friends and families. They were really lovely, so lovely I hated to package them, but the favor boxes were very decorative and added that extra special something to our tables. I found the perfect cake topper. I think I liked the topper better than I did the cake itself. The butterfly with the beautiful satin bow really made an exquisite wedding cake topper.

Everyone seemed impressed with the décor and their wedding favors. A lot of our friends and family thanked me for such lovely wedding favors. What I really liked about this place I shopped was the fact they have more than just cake toppers and a ring pillow. There were all kinds of supplies and great ideas for birthdays, wedding showers, baby showers, and girls night out parties too. My sister just told me the other day that she got all the favors and supplies she needed for my bridal shower at the same place I bought my wedding supplies. Our mom gave her the idea of going online to find everything she needed for my bridal shower she was throwing for me, just like she did for me with my wedding supplies.

My sister is going to have a baby in a few months and I’m throwing her a baby shower, guess where I’m getting all of my shower supplies? I’m pretty sure on the items I’ve checked out so far, and plan to order them some time next week. That’s when she finds out if she is having a girl or boy. Then I can order the favors in pink or blue, even though there are other neutral colors I could choose.

I should listen to my mom more often and maybe she has other ways to find bargains like these in a lot less time than I normally take. Filling out our thank you cards and working out all the reception arrangements was another thing I’m grateful for my mom doing for me. I couldn’t have done it without you, mom. Maybe I can use this online shopping thing for our future anniversary parties. There are great little suggestions for anniversaries, even decorations, cake toppers and little thank you gifts. I found suggestions that would be perfect for our mom and dayd’s 30th wedding anniversary party. Me and my sister should look at the possibilities together. Their 30th isn’t that far away, no use waiting until the last minute.

No use waiting until the last minute, it’s not that much longer before they reach their 30th year as man and wife.
