The Party Thai

I was planning a birthday party for my daughter, who was turning sixteen and needed some suggestions. I was told by my friend that a good place for accessories was online where she got the supplies for her daughters party. So, I figured I’d see what they have. It was surprising to find so many ideas for party supplies for the tables and little gifts. There were a lot of accessories I found that would be perfect for her party. I was able to make cookies in the shape of the number 16 as one of the snacks for her party with the cookie cutters I ordered.

Since it was her birthday, I let her decide what she wanted and she decided to party at the roller rink and have her friends stay overnight. I then made reservations at the roller rink in town. Next, came the invitations for all of her closest girl friends. It was a lot cheaper than I figured it would be. They offered pizza, hot dogs and soft drinks at a very reasonable price. At home I had everything set up for the party to continue. I decorated the house with birthday accessories,laid out snacks and put my sweet 16 cookies, I made, on the tables.

When I was searching the web for birthday ideas, I ordered a few other things besides the cookie cutters. Since this birthday party wasn’t costing me what I thought it would, I decided to order a few sweet sixteen favors for the girls. Each of the girls got a disposable camera to take pictures of this evenings event and a pink photo album to store them in. Everyone got a camera before we went to the roller rink party, but no one got an album until later that evening. They all took a few pictures at the rink and wanted to save some film for the slumber party they were having afterwards.

I also bought each of them little cosmetic bags with their initials on the front. The cosmetic bags were just the beginning, I also bought manicure sets and purse mirrors for each of the girls. I bought festive little favor boxes and filled them with candies for each of the girls. At home, her sweet sixteen idea and presents awaited, and we took care of that as soon as we got there. So, with all the other snack foods, soft drinks and the chick flicks we picked up on the way home, they were a bunch of happy campers. They danced for a while, then they gave each other manicures with their new sets, and of course, they did the make up thing. You could tell they were all having a fantastic time.

Finally, things started to quiet down and they broke out the popcorn and movies. I wanted to give them as much space as I could and not intrude on their girl time, but I got an invitation to join them for a movie. That was such a nice thing to ask me to join them. They actually made it through the first two movies before they started nodded off, one by one. Now it was down to just me and my daughter and she didn’t make it very long. But before she passed out, she thanked me for giving her such a great party.

They ate breakfast and cleaned up everything left from the birthday party before I even got out of bed. I was very impressed with their thoughtfulness in helping me out. Most of the girls went home after a couple hours of hanging out with my daughter. As they were leaving, the girls thanked me for the wonderful time they had and all of the favors for sweet sixteen I bought for them. I like that my daughter and her friends now consider me to be a cool mom.

The lovely accessories I ordered were unbelievable. We also ordered our gifts for the bridesmaids, flower girl, ring boy and the rest of the wedding party. My fiance found quite a few gift ideas for groomsmen wedding gifts.
A mug was the choice for the groomsman favors that he choice and each mug said groomsman on it. Now we had a groomsmen gift, gifts for my bridesmaids and everyone that was in our ceremony, so now, I needed to concentrate on what to buy for our guests. I decided on these really beautiful winter frosted glass votive candles for our friends and family as their thank you gifts. They each had little silver snowflakes as decoration. The place card holders I chose were beautiful little snow ornaments that the guests can take home as a little momento. They had it all, winter themed champagne glasses and serving set and a funny winter wedding cake topper too. Our topper was of a bride and groom skiing and I had the top layer of our cake made into a mountain of snow for the happy couple to placed upon. The cake really turned out nice and I made sure there were lots of pictures of it for my gorgeous winter wonderland wedding album. Right after we took care of the cake cutting, and my brother in law toasted us, we stepped out on the dance floor for our first dance together as husband and wife. With all eyes on us as we danced, I felt as magical as a princess in a fairy tale.
The rest of the reception was just as perfect as the beginning, and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time. All of my girls in the wedding party loved their thank you gifts as did the guys and their wedding groomsmen gifts. Many of the guests at the reception commented on how lovely the winter wedding reception was and how much they appreciated the lovely wedding favors.

I read about how now that a lot of churches don’t allow petals to be thrown at the bride and groom at the ceremony, that many couples are having the guests blow bubbles instead. You’d be surprised at the marvelous accessories I bought from there. I was able to find gifts for not only my bridesmaids, flower girl and ring boy, but for everyone in our wedding party. With all the groomsman gifts that my fiance had to choose from, it was hard for him to make up his mind.
The groomsman favors of his choosing were glass mugs that had the word groomsman printed on the mug. We could cross off the list of things to buy as far as a groomsmen gift, my bridesmaids and the rest of the wedding party, so I could now choose thank you gifts for the guests. There were an awful lot of winter wonderland wedding favors to choose from for our reception. As thank you gifts, I chose glass votive candles with a frosty winter theme, for all of our guests. The glass candles had wintery snowflakes all over it. Every candle was packaged in a decorative favor box with a silver hang tag on them.
The little snow ball ornament place card holders I bought make great little thank you gifts too. I found champagne flutes, cake knife set, and the most adorable whimsical wedding cake topper for a winter wonderland wedding. Since the cake topper I chose was one with the bride and groom on skis, I decided to make it look authentic by having the baker design the top layer of our cake as a mountain of snow. I had many pictures of our wedding cake taken for my winter themed wedding picture album, it was so adorable. We cut our cake and shared the first piece, then my brother in law gave a little speech as he toasted to the bride and groom, and then it was time for us to have our first dance of the evening. This was like a dream come true, dancing around the room with my new husband as everyone watched.
This reception was perfect, from the beginning to the end and all of our guests truly seemed to be enjoying themselves. The men in our wedding party really liked the wedding groomsmen gifts we had for them and my bridesmaids thanked me for theirs too. Some of our friends and family expressed how much they really liked the thank you gifts they received and told us what a spectacular wedding and reception we had.
